HarmoKnight (リズムハンター), also known as Rhythm Hunter: HarmoKnight in Japan, is a rhythm game platformer developed by Game Freak. It is one of the games to come from Game Freak's restructuring project, after which employees where allowed to pitch and created games while working on Pokémon.

Gameplay

HarmoKnight consists of autoscrolling platforming levels, where you control the main character to reach the end while collecting as many notes as possible. You can only perform two actions, jumping and using your weapon. Using the jump and hitting obstacles and enemies throughout the stages, you can collect notes to try and get a high score. Every stage has many branching paths, some of which contain secrets. Failing to hit an enemy will cause you to run into it and lose health, unless the enemy is jumped over. You lose the stage if your health depletes. Eggs can be broken and collected to regain health throughout a stage. There are various characters to choose from, each with a different weapon. Tempo has a staff to swing. Lyra has a crossbow to shoot. Tyko has drumsticks to hit enemies with on different heights. After a certain amount of levels, you come across a boss. During boss stages, you need to hit the action commands as soon as they appear to beat the boss.
