NOISZ is a game series developed and published by Anarch Entertainment, originally released on August 31, 2018. It is characterized by its combination of bullet hell and rhythm game gameplay, requiring the player to tap to the beat while simultaneously dodging bullets. Gameplay is usually accompanied by a visual novel, with story progress being required to unlock additional songs.
Gameplay
NOISZ controls include arrow keys for moving the player around the playfield and two additional buttons: shoot and shield. When shooting, you deal damage towards the boss enemy, lowering its health bar and adding to your combo. When shielding, you are able to absorb blue bullets to add to your combo (red ones will still deal damage to the player). Both of these actions must be done to the beat of the song; failing to time properly will result in losing combo.
The player has a number of lives, and while reaching zero lives will not instantly fail the song, the damage dealt will be drastically decreased. When the boss enemy's health bar reaches zero, the stage will receive a difficulty increase and enter Overflow Mode, where dealt damage is increased. Each song is divided into Verses, and for each Verse, the boss enemy's health bar will refill and the player's lives will be reset back to full.
NOISZ STARLIVHT
While NOISZ STARLIVHT retains many of the elements of the original game, several changes have been made to account for the mobile interface. Instead of strictly tapping to the beat to damage an enemy, damage is dealt via accompanying rhythm gameplay on a four-lane track, similar to many other vertically-scrolling rhythm games. Shielding has been removed, with NOISZ Bursts taking its place. These each have different effects on the gameplay depending on the character used.
