Shamisen Brothers (三味線ブラザーズ) is a rhythm game developed by Kato's and published by Konami in August 2003. The game consists of a huge cabinet, with two Shamisen adorning a CRT television on top of seat space. The game was promoted on Kato's website until at least 2006, around the time the development studio closed.
Gameplay
Gameplay consists of a horizontal scrolling lane with 3 rows where notes can appear. Each row is indicated with a destinct color. Orange, blue and green respectively. Notes need to be strummed on the Shamisen-shaped controller with one hand, using a tradition Shamisen bachi. The other hand presses on the color coded fake strings to correspond with the lanes on screen. There are normal notes, big notes and notes with mice on them. Big notes are not any different to normal notes in how they are meant to be played, as they simply reward more points when hit correctly. Notes with mice on them will fake you out and swap to a different lane right before needing to be hit. These last notes only appear on higher difficulties.
